    Most Iconic 1950’s American Car

Dual Four-Barrel Intake with Hydraulic Lifters

The Model: In early 1955, just as the quickly re-worked the 1956 Chevrolets had been finalized, work was started on the 1957 edition. Corporate HQ had already dictated that 1957 would have to be face-lift of the 1956, that’s all that was in the budget. Rumors were flying that the other two members of the low-priced three would have brand new cars with ground-breaking designs. Mackichan’s team went to work and the finished product was a master-piece. Only because Ford pushed to produce and dump low-line models on their dealers, did the best Chevrolet’s numbers, and then only by a slim margin. The iconic look of the Chevrolet, with its impressive and beautiful up-front grille and bumper design, the the finely crafted and distinctive side trim, made the 1957 Belair and instant classic. To celebrate this new look the popular small-block V8 introduced in 1955, was enlarged to 283 cubic inches and came in six flavors of horsepower. From the base two-barrel, the Power-Pack 4-barrel, a pair of dual four-barrel engines and another pair of V8’s with fuel-injection, made Chevrolet the car performance minded buyers most often turned to. Top of the lne was the Belair convertible with 47,562 being produced.

The Car: Color is everything with cars from the 1950’s. While some collectors can only see red, it takes a true patron of beauty to look at the wide range offered from the palette offered by the 1957 Chevrolet. This stunning example is finished in Colonial Cream, a light yellow that is accented with seat bolsters finished in matching vinyl complimented by silver vinyl inserts. Showing just over 90,000 miles, which are believed to be from new, this car has been lightly used and always kept in top condition. A new top was recently added and it was recently re-worked to accept lead-free gas pumping through those dual four-barrel carbs. While the bat-wing style air-cleaner is the center of attraction under the hood, the entire engine compartment has been restored to better-than-new in appearance and function. The interior is well appointed with factory AM radio, heater-defroster and clock with even the luggage compartment looking fresh and new. This 1957 Belair convertible is really a cut-above the regular crowd in its appearance, performance and iconic design. This Tri-Five has gone through an extensive body-on frame-up restoration and is absolutely stunning!
Drive it anywhere and take yourself back to a time of American pride and opulence.

The Sunbeam Tiger was the brainchild of Ian Garrad. In the early 1960’s Ian convinced Rootes Group, the Manufacturer of the popular Sunbeam Alpine, to hire Carroll Shelby to transform the Alpine Roadster from what was considered a touring car into a powerful, performance driven sports car. Shelby achieved this by removing the Alpines 1.7 liter 4 cylinder motor and replacing it with a small block 4.2 liter (260 CID) V8. Production of this low-budget, high-performance sports car began in England in 1964.
The 1965 Sunbeam Tiger offered here, B9470634LRXFE - JAL 560120, is a three owner car that spent the majority of its life in California owned by its second owner since 1972 until being purchased by an enthusiast in Michigan approximately in 2005. The car was acquired as a running and driving example that possessed a rock solid body, frame and core structure. It was driven and enjoyed until being treated to a complete exterior and mechanical restoration completed in 2015 and highly finished in Signal Orange over black interior. At that time the engine was professionally rebuilt using its correct 260 V8 block fortified with 289 heads, roller rockers, performance cam, electronic ignition, Offenhauser intake, correct carb, correct air cleaner, Tiger power aluminum valve covers, etc. Other highlights include: 4 speed manual transmission, authentic LAT 13 inch aluminum wheels, Good Year Eagle GT Billboard tires, wood steering wheel, tires, complete original convertible top frame, complete original convertible hard storage boot, roll bar, new seat upholstery, new interior door panels, new carpet, original dash wood, complete and original trim and bumpers, Talbot style mirrors, dual exhaust etc. The performance of this Tiger is amazing as it instantly roars to life, pulls strong in every gear, the refurbished steering and suspension ensures sure footedness over bumps and in turns and the car is just plain fast.
Tiger production ceased in 1967 with less than 7,000 total units built in its four year run. The power of the Ford V8 coupled with many performance options offered by Rootes and the direction, design and influence of Carroll Shelby, makes the Sunbeam Tiger sought today from all four corners of the globe as one of Hemming’s top 10 collectible vehicles. Sunbeam tigers are very unique cars and good ones are very hard to find, a car of this condition is worthy of serious consideration. Hard top included with the sale.

The third generation Riviera was radically redesigned for 1971 and featured a flowing “boat tail” rear end that was a homage to the Corvette Sting Ray. A much larger design than before, the Riviera was slipping from its sport image as it grew in size and weight. Thankfully the car came standard with the 455cid V8 that produced up to 265hp in GS trim and could hit 60mph in 8 seconds which was reasonable brisk.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very nice Riviera GS for your consideration. Finished in a unique shade of orange with a contrasting beige vinyl roof and contrasting pin stripes, this is a sharp looking car. Fitted with the GS packaged which was ride-and-handling package that included a rear stabilizer bar, a specially tuned "radial roadability" suspension, additional sound insulation and special "Gran Sport" badging. The 455cid engine starts up without an issue and sounds healthy. It pulls well and the 3-speed ST-400 automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Front power disc brakes and rear drums stop the car with authority and the car is composed on the road. It has a lot of luxury features including power windows, power front seats, air-conditioning, power locks and a radio. Everything appears to be functional and the condition of the car is very good overall. The paint and trim is in great shape and the interior shows very little wear. The leather seats are free of rips and stains and have good padding. The car rides on 20in chrome wheels with tires that have tons of tread left.
A very unique and stylish vehicle, just 34k Rivieras were produced in 1973 and much less GS models. With lower mileage and great condition, this car is a stunner. Comes with two keys as well as the owners manual.
