The 1964 Oldsmobile 442 was launched quickly in response to the success of the GTO.
It was an option on the F-85 and Cutlass and came with a 4-barrel carb, 4-speed transmission, and dual exhaust, thus 4-4-2.
The package also included heavy-duty shocks, springs, and a rear stabilizer bar, as well as the top 330 V8 engine that was modified with all available Police issued equipment including a dual-snorkel air cleaner, and premium quality rod and main bearings.
It was released late in the model year and only 2,999 cars were produced with the 442 option.
