General Overview

Ushering in the third generation Impala, the 1961 was more trim and boxy.

The rare SS option debuted also this year and was the last year the top station wagon model would bear the Nomad name.

It was distinguishable from other Chevys with it 6-taillight design, crossed racing flags insignia, and Impala scripts on the rear fenders.

A total of 491,000 Impalas were produced.
