The 1977 Monte Carlo saw only minor changes from the previous year like the "Knight's Crest" emblem being moved to a stand-up hood ornament, and revised taillight lenses. The 1977 would mark the last year of the second generation, and the third generation would usher in the downsized 1978 Monte Carlo.
The 400ci V8 option was dropped leaving only the 305ci standard V8 and the optional 350ci V8.
