This 1967 Cadillac Sedan DeVille is about dedication. How does nearly $100,000 worth of restoration receipts sound? As a lifetime family heirloom, it received the type of frame-off restoration that’s done purely out of love – not based on how much the car is worth. That’s good news for the next buyer as there’s really no doubt this car is nicer than it was new, and that’s a rare prospect indeed for a 1967 Deville. Although the work was completed a few years ago, we think you’ll agree it’s an amazing specimen. In fact, we’re pretty confident this is still one of the nicest ’67 Sedan DeVille in the universe.
Originally purchased by the owner’s great aunt, he fell in love with it when he was just a kid riding in the back seat. You know what that’s like, of course, because you’re a car guy, and the love that went into the restoration is a shining testament to the power of passion and history in the old car world. Logic would dictate that no car worth $20,000 should receive a six-figure restoration, yet here it is in all its shining glory. That spectacular Admiralty Blue paint is as gorgeous as any finish applied by the Standard of the World, and the work to get it there was exceptionally well-done. While it has been a few years, the car was painstakingly preserved after the resto. All four doors fit with tight gaps, the long, pointed quarter panels are straight, and with a known pedigree, you can buy in confidence that you’re getting something special, and that it’s always been treated that way. The black vinyl top looks new, because it is, and all the Soft-Ray tinted glass is fresh stuff, too, so there’s a little extra shine to the car that you can’t quite put your finger on. All the chrome and stainless, of course, was restored to show condition and glitters against the dark blue paint like the stars in the night sky. OK, hyperbole aside, this is one seriously nice DeVille.
Somewhere, somehow they managed to find interior fabric that exactly matched the 1967 original materials. All stitched in the factory patterns, the interior is literally like new. Correct dark blue carpets, beautifully detailed door panels, and a new headliner add to the youthful look. This DeVille is also full of optional goodies that you’d expect on a Cadillac, including power windows, A/C, and a power front seat, all of which are functional. Leg room in back is expansive, making it feel more like a mini-limousine than a sedan, and with the hardtop styling, it actually feels quite bright and airy inside. The factory AM/FM radio remains in the center of the brushed stainless steel instrument panel and the markings on the gauges are so bright and sharp that they have to have been restored. Correct Cadillac floor mats are matched by the fully upholstered trunk, which features a full-sized spare tire and lots of storage space.
Cadillac’s 429 cubic inch V8 was a strong performer in 1967, offering a stout 365 horsepower and a silky smooth flow of power that rivaled an electric motor. Fully rebuilt and detailed, the engine bay looks like it might have a few months after that great aunt took the car home, and it drives superbly with that effortless performance that defines the American luxury car. A 3-speed automatic transmission is, of course, standard, and the rear gears ensure that highway cruising is drama-free. Correct narrow whitewall tires and restored hubcaps complete the stunning presentation.
This car is amazing, if not merely for its condition, but for the astronomical investment it represents. Nostalgia is like that, so please put this car on your “must-own” list, because it’ll always be remarkable. Call today!
